Devotional on John 6:68-69
In John 6:68-69, Peter declares, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.” This profound question and declaration remind us of the importance of our relationship with Christ and the truth found in His teachings.
When Jesus speaks about the Bread of Life, many of His followers struggle to understand His message. Some turn away, unable to accept the hard truths that He presents. In contrast, Peter and the disciples recognize that, despite the difficulty, there is nowhere else to turn. They have witnessed miracles, heard profound wisdom, and encountered a love that transforms. They understand that only through Jesus can they find the answers to life’s deepest questions.
In our walk of faith, we may face moments of doubt or confusion, especially when God’s ways do not align with our expectations. Life can present challenges that cause us to question our beliefs. Like the crowds who left, we may be tempted to seek fulfillment in worldly things—whether in relationships, careers, or personal achievements. However, these paths ultimately lead to emptiness.
Peter’s response in this passage invites us to confront our own hearts. Who or what do we turn to when trials hit? In a world filled with noise and distraction, Jesus offers profound clarity and purpose. He is our anchor amid the storms, our guide in uncertainty, and the source of eternal life.
As we reflect on this passage, let us recommit to seeking Him above all else. In prayer, ask God to help you to deepen your understanding of His words. Hold onto the truth that in Christ, we are not just finding answers, but we are entering into a relationship with the Holy One who loves us unconditionally. May our hearts resonate with Peter’s conviction: There is no one else but Jesus, for He alone holds the words of eternal life.
Thank You and God Bless
