Devotional on Hebrews 10:24-25 – Stirring One Another to Love
Scripture: Hebrews 10:24–25 – “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” (ESV)
In a world where isolation and individualism are increasingly common, Hebrews 10:24–25 reminds us of the essential role of community in the Christian life. These verses challenge us to intentionally think about how we can encourage each other toward love, good works, and faithful living.
“Let us consider” implies thoughtfulness and purpose. We are not meant to live the Christian life passively or in solitude. God calls us to be mindful of others—to watch for ways we can uplift, challenge, and inspire those around us. The body of Christ grows stronger when each member actively seeks the good of the others.
The author of Hebrews also warns against “giving up meeting together.” This isn’t just about attending church on Sunday—it’s about prioritizing relationships within the body of Christ. When we gather in worship, prayer, study, and fellowship, we strengthen our faith and help others do the same. Isolation can lead to discouragement, but community brings accountability, joy, and spiritual growth.
The phrase “stir up one another” is powerful. It suggests we sometimes need a gentle push—or a strong one—to keep going. Life gets hard. Faith can waver. But God often uses His people to strengthen our resolve. Through a word of encouragement, a shared prayer, or a helping hand, we become instruments of God’s grace to one another.
And we are to do this “all the more as you see the Day drawing near” As we move closer to Christ’s return, the need for faithful community only grows. The world may grow darker, but the light of Christ shines brighter when His people walk together in love and purpose.

Lord, help me not to walk this journey alone. Teach me how to encourage others and be open to encouragement myself. Give me a heart that loves, serves, and gathers in Your name. Strengthen Your Church as we wait for Your return. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
