Ephesians 6:13 Devotional

Devotional on Ephesians 6:13Believe and Be Saved

Scripture: Acts 16:31–32 – “And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house.” (ESV)

In Acts 16, Paul and Silas find themselves imprisoned for preaching the gospel. Yet even in chains, their faith shines. At midnight, they’re praying and singing hymns when a miraculous earthquake opens the prison doors. The jailer, terrified that the prisoners had escaped, prepares to take his own life—until Paul stops him and assures him that all the prisoners are still there.

Overwhelmed, the jailer falls before Paul and Silas and asks, “What must I do to be saved?” Their answer is both simple and profound: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”

This verse reminds us that salvation is not earned by works, rituals, or good behavior. It is a gift received through faith in Jesus Christ. To “believe” is more than intellectual agreement—it means to trust fully in who Jesus is and what He has done: that He died for our sins and rose again to give us new life.

The jailer believed—and that belief changed everything. He welcomed Paul and Silas into his home, washed their wounds, and was baptized along with his entire household. The same message that brought him hope also reached those closest to him.

God’s saving grace is not only personal; it’s also contagious. When we believe in Christ, it impacts the people around us. As we live out our faith in love, integrity, and joy, others are drawn to the One who changed us.

Are you trusting in Christ today? If so, know that your faith matters—not just for your own soul, but as a light for those near you. And if you haven’t believed, the invitation still stands: Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the free gift of salvation. Help me to trust in You fully and to live in a way that draws others to You. Use my life and my household to glorify Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thank You and God Bless
