Devotional on Acts 14:21-22
In Acts 14:21-22, we read, “They preached the gospel in that city and won a large number of disciples. Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch, strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. ‘We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,’ they said.” This passage encapsulates a fundamental truth about the Christian journey—one that involves perseverance in the face of trials.
The apostles traveled from city to city, spreading the good news and nurturing new believers. Their mission was not merely to convert but to strengthen and encourage. As they reminded the disciples of the inevitable hardships ahead, they were preparing them for the reality of following Christ. Faith does not exempt us from difficulties; rather, it equips us to endure them.
In our own lives, we may often wonder why we encounter struggles despite our faith. The truth is, trials often serve as a crucible for our faith, refining us and helping us grow closer to God. Just as the apostles traveled back to revisit the churches they established, we too must return to our roots—our faith community—and support one another in our spiritual journeys.
Encouragement is vital in our walk with Christ. It is easy to feel isolated or disheartened when we face challenges, but we are called to uplift one another. Reach out to a fellow believer who may be struggling, share your testimonies of God’s faithfulness, and remind them of His promises. In doing so, we fulfill the command to strengthen and encourage.
Let us also remember the encouraging words of the apostles: “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God.” These words are a reminder that perseverance is key to our spiritual growth. Embrace the trials you face today as opportunities to lean deeper into your relationship with Christ. For in every hardship, God is with you, molding you into the image of His Son, Jesus.
Thank You and God Bless
