Boast in the Lord
2 Corinthians 10:17–18 (ESV) — “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord. For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.”

In a culture that celebrates self-promotion and personal achievement, these words from Paul in 2 Corinthians offer a radically different perspective. He writes, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” This is not a call to abandon excellence or humility in service, but a reminder of where our true value and approval come from.

Paul is confronting the tendency, even within the church, to measure worth by human standards—gifts, status, charisma, or outward success. But in God’s kingdom, boasting in oneself is empty. What matters is not how we appear to others or how we promote ourselves, but whether our lives bring glory to God.

When we boast in the Lord, we shift the focus from self to Savior. We acknowledge that every good gift, every success, every spiritual insight or ministry opportunity comes from Him. We give credit where it’s due—back to the One who gives grace for every step.

Verse 18 deepens this truth: “It is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.” True approval doesn’t come from others, or even from our own self-assessment. It comes from God alone. And His commendation is based not on image or performance, but on faithfulness, humility, and obedience.

Are you living to impress others—or to please God? The world may overlook or undervalue what the Lord treasures most: a heart that trusts Him, a life surrendered to His will, and a servant who walks in quiet obedience.

Live today with this aim: to boast in the Lord, and to seek His approval above all.

Prayer:
Father, help me not to boast in myself, but in You alone. Teach me to value Your commendation more than human praise. May my life point others to Your glory, and may all that I do reflect my dependence on You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thank You and God Bless
