Devotional on Romans 10:14 – The Echo of the Gospel
“How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?” – Romans 10:14 (ESV)
In Romans 10:14, the Apostle Paul underscores a critical truth about faith and the necessity of communication in our relationship with God. This verse asks profound questions that cut to the core of our mission as believers. It emphasizes the essential role of sharing the Gospel—the Good News that transforms lives and brings salvation.
For many, the journey of faith began with someone preaching the Word, whether from a pulpit, in a home, or during a casual conversation. The verses preceding this passage highlight that faith comes from hearing the message, and that message is rooted in Christ. The call to share this message is not merely for the few gifted with the ability to preach; it is a command that extends to every believer.
Reflect on your own testimony. Who were the people that God used to make you aware of His grace? How did their words and actions impact your understanding of Jesus? Perhaps it was a friend, a family member, or a stranger whose life mirrored the love of Christ. Paul’s words remind us that each of us has a role to play.
