Devotional on Matthew 6:20-21
In Matthew 6:20-21, Jesus instructs us: “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” This powerful teaching invites us to reflect on our priorities and the true nature of wealth.
The world often equates treasure with material possessions — the houses we live in, the cars we drive, and the bank accounts we maintain. However, these earthly treasures are fleeting; they can be damaged, depleted, or taken away. In contrast, the treasures we store in heaven are eternal. These treasures are built on faith, love, kindness, and the impact we have on others’ lives.
When we direct our hearts to heavenly treasures, we prioritize what truly matters. Acts of love and kindness, sharing the Gospel, and serving others contribute to a treasure that cannot be destroyed. Consider the relationships you nurture and the moments of service you offer. These acts create a legacy that lasts beyond your lifetime.
Moreover, reflecting on where you allocate your time and resources can reveal much about your heart. Are you investing your energies in things that draw you closer to God and others? Are you fostering an environment where blessings can grow? When your treasure lies in heaven, your heart follows suit, leading you to seek God’s will and reflect His love in every aspect of your life.
In this season of reflection, let us evaluate our priorities. What treasures are we accumulating? Let’s strive to build up heavenly treasures; engage in acts of love, show compassion, and share the hope of Christ. As our hearts align with God’s purpose, we find true fulfillment and joy, knowing that our lives reflect His eternal value.
May we remember: where our treasure is, there our heart will be, so let us invest wisely.
Thank You and God Bless
