Walls That Fall
Scripture:
“So the people shouted, and the trumpets were blown. As soon as the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they captured the city.”
—Joshua 6:20 (ESV)
Reflection:
The fall of Jericho was not accomplished by Israel’s military might, but by God’s power and Israel’s obedience. For six days, the people marched silently around the fortified city, and on the seventh day, at the Lord’s command, they shouted—and the walls crumbled.
From a human perspective, this strategy seemed foolish. Yet it was through faith and obedience that Israel witnessed God’s miraculous intervention. This story reminds us that God often works in ways that defy human wisdom, calling us to trust Him even when we cannot see how His promises will unfold.
We all face “walls” in life—circumstances that seem immovable, obstacles too great to overcome, battles too daunting to win. But just as God brought down Jericho’s walls, He is able to bring down the walls in our lives. His strength is made perfect in our weakness, and He delights to show His power when we place our trust in Him.
Application:
- Identify a “wall” in your life—whether fear, doubt, sin, or opposition—and surrender it to the Lord in prayer.
- Practice obedience even in small steps, trusting that God honors faithfulness.
- Remember that victory comes not by your strength, but by God’s hand.
Prayer:
Lord, You are the One who makes walls fall. Teach me to walk in faith and obedience, even when Your ways seem beyond my understanding. Help me trust Your promises and rely on Your power. Bring down the walls in my life that keep me from walking fully in Your will, and let my victories bring glory to You alone. Amen.
Thank You and God Bless
