“The lion has roared; who will not fear? The Lord God has spoken; who can but prophesy?” – Amos 3:8
Amos, a shepherd turned prophet, wrote during a time of moral decay and impending judgment. The weight of his message resonates through the ages, particularly in this verse. The roaring lion symbolizes the authority and urgency of God’s call, compelling both fear and action.
When a lion roars, it demands attention. This is not a mere sound; it’s a declaration of presence and power. In the same way, when God speaks, it’s an invitation to respond. The roar signifies that something significant is about to happen. God does not speak lightly; His words come with purpose and a divine plan.
As believers, we must examine our response to God’s voice. Do we hear His call but choose to turn a deaf ear, continuing our routines as if nothing is at stake? Amos invites us to consider the serious implications of ignoring God’s prophetic word.
