To Know Jesus Is to Know the Father
John 14:7 (ESV)“If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”

In John 14:7, Jesus speaks a profound truth to His disciples—one that reveals the heart of the Christian faith: to know Jesus is to know God the Father. This verse is part of Jesus’ farewell discourse, spoken tenderly to His followers just before His crucifixion. They are confused, uncertain, and filled with questions. Jesus responds by drawing their eyes to Himself as the full revelation of God.

“If you had known me, you would have known my Father also.” Jesus gently corrects His disciples’ limited understanding. Though they had walked with Him, heard His teachings, and seen His miracles, they still didn’t fully grasp who He was. To know Jesus truly is not just to know a good teacher or prophet, but to know God Himself. He is not merely pointing to the Father—He is the perfect image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15).

Then Jesus makes a bold and comforting statement: “From now on you do know him and have seen him.” In Christ, the invisible becomes visible. God is no longer distant or veiled in mystery. In Jesus—through His life, His words, His love, His death, and His resurrection—we see the very heart of the Father. Every act of compassion, every word of truth, every moment of grace reflects the nature of God.

This verse invites us into deeper relationship. If you want to know what God is like, look to Jesus. If you wonder how God feels about you, listen to Jesus’ words. If you question whether God sees you or cares, watch how Jesus loves the broken, heals the sick, and welcomes sinners.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for revealing the Father to us. When I struggle to understand who God is, help me look to You. Teach me to know You more deeply, and through You, to walk in relationship with the Father. Thank You that in You, I have seen the face of God and experienced His love. Amen.

Thank You and God Bless
