Devotional on John 11:25-26 – The Resurrection and the Life
In John 11:25-26, Jesus boldly declares, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” These profound words remind us of the central tenet of our faith: the promise of eternal life through Christ.
Martha, in the midst of mourning her brother Lazarus, had the wisdom and courage to approach Jesus, expressing her faith even in overwhelming grief. Jesus met her in her pain, but He invited her to see beyond her immediate circumstances. His declaration reveals not just His power over death but also His deep desire for us to understand the nature of true life—a life rooted in Him.
Life offers many challenges that can lead us to question our faith. We may encounter difficulties that feel insurmountable, clouding our vision of hope. In these moments of doubt, we need to remember what Jesus offers: a life that transcends this world. Believing in Him doesn’t shield us from hardship; rather, it anchors us in a promise. The assurance that those who die in Christ will rise again, and that the struggles of this life are temporary.
As we reflect on these verses today, consider how Jesus is calling you to trust Him in your own trials. Are there areas where you struggle to believe in His promise of resurrection? Maybe you are in a season of mourning, battling a loss, or facing anxiety about the future. Jesus invites you to lay those burdens at His feet and embrace the life that He brings.
Let us remember that our faith is not based on what we see but on who we trust. Jesus is both the resurrection and the life; He holds the keys to both our earthly lives and our eternal destinies. Let us live boldly, sharing this promise with others, and finding hope in the knowledge that we will never truly die.
Thank You and God Bless
