Devotional on Psalm 97:10
“Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.” (Psalm 97:10)
As believers, we are called to embody a profound love for the Lord that manifests not just in our devotion, but also in our stance against evil. This verse draws a clear line between the righteous and the wicked. To love God is to align our hearts and actions with His purposes, which naturally leads us to reject what is contrary to His nature.
Hating evil doesn’t mean we harbor hatred towards individuals; rather, we are called to detest the very actions and ideologies that stand in opposition to God’s truth. It requires spiritual discernment and courage to identify what is evil in a world that often presents it as normal or acceptable. This verse serves as a reminder that our love for God should fuel a passion for righteousness and a desire to live out His truth in every sphere of our lives.
God’s promise of protection for those who love Him is profound. He is not indifferent to the struggles we face in a world tainted by sin. Instead, He actively guards and delivers His faithful ones from the hands of the wicked. When we face trials or feel overwhelmed by the darkness around us, we can take refuge in the truth of God’s deliverance. His protection doesn’t mean we won’t encounter difficulties, but it reassures us that we are never alone. God watches over our lives, ensuring that we can endure and emerge victorious through His strength.
Today, let us examine our hearts. Are there areas where we have become complacent regarding evil? Can we increase our love for God by passionately opposing those things that do not reflect His character? As we cultivate our relationship with Him, we will find ourselves empowered to stand firm against darkness, equipped with the assurance that He is our protector and deliverer. Let our love for the Lord inspire a lifestyle that honors Him and repels evil in all its forms.
Thank You and God Bless
