1 Corinthians 15:21-22 Devotional

Devotional on 1 Corinthians 15:21-22The Promise of Resurrection

“For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:21-22, NIV)

The Apostle Paul, in his first letter to the Corinthians, presents a profound contrast between the consequences of Adam’s actions and the redemptive work of Christ. These verses encapsulate the essence of Christian hope—a hope that is anchored not in mere optimism, but in the transformative reality of resurrection.

Through Adam, sin entered the world, and with sin came death. This somber truth resonates throughout human history; we witness the pain, loss, and separation that death causes, not just physically, but spiritually. The weight of this reality often feels overwhelming. Just as Adam fell and brought death into humanity, we too grapple with the consequences of sin in our lives.

Yet Paul offers a remarkable promise: “in Christ all will be made alive.” This is more than a mere statement; it is the cornerstone of our faith. In Christ, the story does not end with death. Through His sacrificial death and victorious resurrection, Jesus provides a pathway to eternal life. Where Adam’s disobedience led to despair, Christ’s obedience offers us a profound hope.

As believers, we are invited to partake in this resurrection life today. This means that the effects of sin and death do not have the final say in our lives. In Christ, we have been given new birth—a spiritual resurrection that transforms how we live. The guilt and shame that once defined us can be erased, replaced by the freedom found in Christ.

Reflect on this: Are there areas in your life where you still feel the weight of death? Bring these before God, and embrace the resurrection power available to you. Let the truth of 1 Corinthians 15:21-22 inspire you to live fully in the new life Christ offers, with the assurance that death is not the end, but a door to eternal life in Him.
